Tracey S. Corey, MD is a native of Kentucky, who recently relocated to Ocala, FL. Dr. Corey graduated With Distinction from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, with a major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the School of Medicine of University of Louisville. Dr. Corey undertook a one-year internship in Internal Medicine, and completed her Anatomic Pathology residency at University Affiliated Hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky. She completed her Forensic Pathology fellowship training with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Louisville. Dr. Corey is licensed to practice medicine in Kentucky, Indiana, Nevada, and Florida.
Dr. Corey served as a Kentucky Medical Examiner for five years, before being appointed Kentucky Chief Medical Examiner in 1997. She served as Kentucky Chief Medical Examiner in the Kentucky Cabinet of Justice, under three governors, from 1997 until her retirement, effective January 1, 2016. During her time as Kentucky Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Corey also served as Clinical Professor and Division Director of the Division of Forensic Pathology at University of Louisville School of Medicine, as well as Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Forensic Pathology Fellowship training program at University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Upon retirement from Kentucky state government, Dr. Corey relocated to Ocala, Florida, to continue her hobby in equestrian activities. She began serving as a District 5 Associate Medical Examiner in 2018. Additionally, Dr. Corey serves as the Forensic Pathology Consultant to the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. She also provides training to
law enforcement agencies around the country for organizations including the Public Agency Training Council, the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the FBI.
