Dr. Tracy Shipe, a native Floridian who grew up in Ocala, FL, has been practicing Forensic Pathology since 2017. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science. She completed a forensic internship at District 5 Medical Examiner's Office in 2006 where she was inspired to pursue Forensic Pathology as her career. Dr. Shipe completed her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL and then moved to Virginia for her pathology residency and fellowship training. She completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and her Forensic Pathology fellowship at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, also in Richmond. Dr. Shipe is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Virginia.
Following her training, Dr. Shipe returned to Florida where she accepted a position as Associate Medical Examiner at District 21 Medical Examiner's Office gaining valuable experience, as well as opportunities to teach medical students and staff. Dr. Shipe's passion for life-long learning and experiences working during the pandemic motivated her to earn her Master of Public Health degree, which she completed in the fall 2024 through the University of South Florida. With her home roots in Ocala, and love of Central Florida, Dr. Shipe recently relocated to the area accepting a position at Districts 5 & 24 Medical Examiner's Office in October 2024.
Dr. Shipe has testified numerous times as an expert witness and is an active member of multiple medical professional organizations including: American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), Florida Association of Medical Examiners (FAME), and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA).
