Dr. Chantel Njiwaji is board-certified in anatomic and forensic pathology and has been practicing since 2011. As a native from Michigan, she received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Her pathology residency training was at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, and her forensic pathology fellowship training was in Florida at the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner Office. Dr. Njiwaji is licensed to practice medicine in Florida, New York, Maryland, Michigan, and Washington, DC.
Early in her career, Dr. Njiwaji was an Assistant Medical Examiner working at the Wayne County Medical Examiner Office in Detroit, Michigan. During that time, she was appointed to the faculty at University of Michigan Medical School as an Assistant Professor in Pathology teaching pathology residents the main aspects of forensic pathology, as well as autopsy skill sets. In addition, she presented various topics in forensic pathology to law enforcement officials and lawyers. Thereafter, in 2017 she worked as a Deputy Medical Examiner in the Washington, DC Medical Examiner’s Office and was appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine where she continued to teach, as well. Dr. Njiwaji relocated to Florida to be with family, first working in Orlando at the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office and then subsequently accepting a position at Districts 5 & 24 Medical Examiner’s Office in January 2024.
Dr. Njiwaji has testified nearly a hundred times in circuit, district, and federal courts. She has also provided civil depositions. She has co-authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has memberships in multiple medical professional organizations: American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), and American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), to name a few.
