FORENSIC ODONTOLOGY

Kenneth F. Cohrn, D.D.S., D-ABFO

Dr. Ken Cohrn received his dental degree from the University of Buffalo and completed a general practice residency the following year at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, also in Buffalo. He has been in private practice since 1978 and in Central Florida since 1994.
Dr. Cohrn’s initiation to forensic odontology started with an AFIP course in the early 1980s, and led to his current positions as chief forensic odontology consultant to the District 5 Medical Examiner’s Office in 2002 and to the District MEO 9 in 2003. Since then, he has participated in cases in many of Florida’s Medical Examiner districts. He is one of only seven forensic odontologists in the state of Florida who are board certified by the American Board of Forensic Odontology.
Dr. Cohrn serves as a senior odontologist for the state disaster team (FEMORS) and the DMORT Region 4 federal disaster response team. He also currently sits on the Board of Governors and is chairman of the Research Committee for the American Society of Forensic Odontologists. In May of 2009, Dr. Cohrn became President-Elect of the IVFSA, a forensic veterinary organization associated with the ASPCA and the University of Florida that informs and educates law enforcement, veterinarians, judicial officers, animal welfare community, forensic scientists and others on issues of animal abuse, fighting, cruelty and litigation.
